Whenever I meet someone who's traveled in the same places as I have, I love swapping stories and unraveling the many similarities and differences between our adventures. There's something fascinating to me about the space-time continuum, and how a certain geographical place can both change and remain the same over a matter of minutes, or years.
It's a question I ask every Wild Heart:
How do you overcome fear, anxiety, or self-doubt?
As can be expected when you ask for advice from a tribe of kick-ass humans who actively work to live the lives they imagine, the answers are thoughtful and inspiring. Individually, each quote is a nuggets of courage to tuck away and call on when fear and doubt peep into view. Together, themes emerge that outline actionable strategies for moving through fear.
I remember agonizing over the screen name as I created my first AOL email account at age 12. Not long after, I got my first (of many) chain email warning me about the attackers who will hide under my car and slit my Achilles tendon so I can't run away.
I wasn't allowed to watch horror movies, but my own relatives would forward these warnings without a second thought.
Take a minute to think about how effed up it is for a 12 year old to need to be coached about stuff like this.
Now here's the really effed up part: It's not even true.
