What got you started? Ever since I moved to Chile 5 years ago everyone told me about how beautiful the south was so I needed to see it for myself. Also, I decided to give myself a challenge and see how far I could go while spending the least amount of money possible, as well as proving that hitchhiking and backpacking on my own as a woman isn't nearly as dangerous as it's made out to be.

Name & Age: Philippa (Pippa) Gunn, 36
Where's home? Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada
What was/is your last/current trip? In the spring of 2014, I quit a professional job working at a museum to fulfill a decade long dream to thru hike 2200 miles on the Appalachian Trail. After spending six months living a very simple life in the woods, I found it impossible to return to the traditional working world. Instead, I spent the winter participating in a self-guided artist residency on a farm in rural Nova Scotia. Afterwards, I moved to British Columbia to work on a horse ranch in the Southern Cariboo, which is where I am living now. So in a sense, I am still ‘travelling’, although I see it more as a ‘pilgrimage’ or ‘lifestyle’.
